PSN - April 23, 2011

PSN IS BACK UP
This page well be archived later to make room for better things.

The PSN has be roughly unavailable since April 20th. Due to an "external intrusion" also know as they got hacked. Its now the 23rd and withdraws have set in. I cannot race online in GT5, I cant continue to be bored with BlackOps Online, I cannot see if anyone besides myself was able to post a score on my LBP2 level, I cant continue to disappoint black souls in Demon's Souls.

I don't know why someone would attempt to do this. All they are doing is hurting the players. PSN is free of charge so all that is doing is causing downtime for gamers. Now if they were attacking Xbox servers I could understand being you need to pay just to get online. Then they charge you even more for other services.

So I've come to the conclusion that if it was "Anonymous" it must be the fail side of Anonymous. Mainly because it just sounds so stupid that someone would attack PSN over other fail services out there. Yes there are two sides to Anonymous. There is the Spastic special ed students that run around proclaiming to be hackers and programmers and what not. Then there is the calm collective of dickheads that can do Evil/Great things when they put there mind to it. And I don't see that last side attacking what is mainly its own self unlike the first retarded half.

I can tell you one thing, even with all the issues the PSN has had lately it still doesn't make me want an XBox. They might as well slap a Apple logo on that thing how bad they are now a days.

The 24th:
Yup its still down, so I decided to visit the PS Blog and PS Forums and man there is alot of nerdrage going on. Even some threatening to go to XBox. That'll show them! heh. *I'm going to blow more money on a pay service because the Free service is down for a bit* Here's a bright Ideal why not go play though all those games you've never beat. That you just jumped into multiplayer once you got it. Very Sad.

The 25th:
Still down. Nothing to bitch about. Besides some kids going "Its been down forever!" Yes forever is about 4 days now, it seems.

The 25th cont:
Sony posted on their twitter account at 11:84am EST, that they still do not know when PSN well be back up. I would like to say to Sony that its not an update if there is nothing to update. You guys don't know when its going to be up, so don't get our hopes up! Sourcelink

The 26th:
Playstation Blog finally released some real information. Frankly I aint to happy either way. Simply put they were hacked, they hired a security firm to do the leg work on why/how. Some users were compromised. Thus ending with they should have it back up within one week. I still don't want an Apple 360, but sure aint to happy about the news. Sourcelink

The 27th:
Well as the possible week long wait set into the back of my head. I browse the net looking for something to do. I did not realize how much time I spent on PSN till now. Don't get me wrong I aint one of those people that need online to play but you never miss it till its gone. I still put time into GT5 and other games throughout the day.

Roaming around online and Xbox users are just having a field day with this. Course 90% of them didn't read the news correctly and are twisting this into weird directions. But that was expected of them. I'm sure it'd be roughly the same had it happened to Micro$oft. What I don't get is since when has Micro$oft been something to defend? There software is over priced, There consoles have Dated tech that you must pay for most features that come free on Sony's and Nintendo's consoles. On top of that the very old "PS3 has no games" is out the window two since PS3 has much more and most games greatly out rate there 360 counterparts. Both 360 and PS3 have roughly the same lineups now besides each having there own exclusives. So saying the "PS3 Has No Games" phrase just making you look like a child.

Its weird how the facts get twisted by children that don't know how to even look up and see the truth.

On top of that M$ hasn't escaped the shit storm just yet. Matter of fact they maybe next in line. Since already M$ is sending out warnings about phishing while it is not a net work seizing hacking like PSN had but an easier way of having you hand over your personal information without you even knowing. So you M$ idiots can laugh but it took an major hacking to steal our shit where you idiots are just giving it out freely. Sourcelink

The 28th:
They posted a Q&A on the downtimes yesterday. I was to lazy to post anything on it. They hope to get PSN back up around a week from the 26th. Sourcelink

The 28th cont:
I just caught this a min ago after reading it it makes me want to hit people. Sourcelink Basicaly they doubling the amount of points you get for a couple PC games and plan on "Making good" with free realms and DC Universe players. So they are basically not giving anyone anything unless they pay to play or play shit. Here's a better ideal. Give all the players affected enough PSN cash to buy atleast one game... NOT ONE OF THOSE shitty mini-games either. Show that you care.

The 29th:
According to Kotaku, Sony has enlisted the FBI to help with finding who was behind the PSN hacking. I just woke up so I'll leave that one alone. But if they do catch the person or persons involved and the FBI's involved there well be hell to pay. Sourcelink

The 29th cont:
Sony's planning a goodwill gesture. I still stand by my suggestion above. Most likely this "Goodwill Gesture" well consist of something that most users wont be able to use or it'll be so useless that its not worth using. Like Points for Freerealms *Cough Cough* I love Sony compared to Apple and Apples parent companey Microsoft *Its a joke you morons, sorta* but Sony's a large companey and they know how to screw people just like Apple and M$. So if they do anything even semi-usful I well be very surprised. Frankly I hope I am completely wrong. Sourcelink

The 30th:
Another Q&A was posted late on the 28th. Instead of being whole bunch of fake questions, this time it sounds like all the questions players would ask besides the fabled "when well it be up?" question. Like *we're the Flist affected?, Trophy's affected?, The PS+ Cloud affected?* Simple answer is No, no, and no. Follow the sourcelink for more info. Sourcelink

The 1st of May:
Well Sony after 2 days of silence finally announced that they well have PSN up this week. Course this week being within 7 days once again. I well skip the *yes we are bring up the servers, yes we are implementing new security efforts.* part. We all knew that was going to happen, and aim for the "Welcome Back" bull-a-shit.

"Each territory will be offering selected PlayStation entertainment content for free download. Specific details of this content will be announced in each region soon."
What that says to me is there going to allow you to download some videos and theme's free. Also known as nothing. I spend my times in games, that's why I bought the system.

"All existing PlayStation Network customers will be provided with 30 days free membership in the PlayStation Plus premium service. Current members of PlayStation Plus will receive 30 days free service."
This is what they shoulda done with playstation plus in the first place. Once you try it most likely you like it, and want to continue it. This well be one of the only good things listed. Sometimes they offer up free old PSX games though this so might be worth it.

"Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity subscribers (in countries where the service is available) will receive 30 days free service."
I don't know about most of you but I've never downloaded music though my PS3. Nore have I ever seen such a service. Unless its some Euro trash shit I don't know.

"Additional “Welcome Back” entertainment and service offerings will be rolled out over the coming weeks as the company returns the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services to the quality standard users have grown to enjoy and strive to exceed those exceptions."
And they finally follow up that small list with a qualifier. I cant say much on that one besides we'll haft to wait and see.

Hopefully they at least make semi-good on what they say. I still think 30 days on PS+ is to low the first week alone is going to be hell on the PSN. But what else can I expect, if it was M$ or Apple they'd expect you to pay just to get back online. Either way now just time to wait... more... Sourcelink

The 1st cont:
I was up really late last night playing GT5 getting ready to torch players online. I whent to bed around 4-5ish AM. I made sure to check the PSN blog where this news was first posted before I slept and it wasent posted. So the date on there website is wrong. I dont care when the statment was made I care when it was made public. It was released on the 1st of MAY not 30th of APRIL.

May 2nd:
Gamepro posted early this morning that that an congress women the chairperson of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade has wrote a letter demanding answers to the PSN outage. Frankly this is a general slap in the face to players. Since Sony has answered most of the questions already. Its another example of congress sticking there nose where it doesn't belong.

Do I want answers? Sure! But are they expressively needed right now? No! Sony assured that most credit card data was encrypted and safe but warns that it could have been taken anyway's. That is the risk of doing transactions online. Hundreds of thousands of Credit cards numbers are stolen each year where's your letter for the rest of these people?!

As you can tell I'm not much of a fan of congress in general. Yes people that get payed more then me to sit and make decisions for me that have never picked up a joystick let alone played more then ten min's just there to slow down the whole fucking process. We all want answers but until its fixed... fuck off. Sourcelink

The 2nd Cont:
PSN Blog posted another update on what they are attempting to do and what you probably should do once PSN is back online fully. Nothing really to btich about here so read if you wish. Sourcelink

The 3rd:
Well todays the day when Sony stated PSN may start coming back online. Although I highly doubt it due to the fact that they have so much going on. So many people writing them for answers including useless people that just want to feel important for one day. With the recent hacking of SOE also I'd imagine that we may have some more time to wait sadly.

It is true that you don't miss it tell its gone, but in that true stubborn human nature fashion I've found enough stuff to do to destract me from it. I got tons of PSP games I've been playing. Like Monster Hunter Portible 3rd, Valkyrie Profile for the PSP. I got PS3 games to play still that are just as fun without internet. I just feel sorry for those idiots that buy games and never touch single player its sad. Those are the fail gamers that play just to say that they did. I bet they are crying right now.

T
he 5th:
Once again the shit storm continues for Sony. A 21yo from canada has filed a lawsuit against Sony claiming Sony has breached her Privacy. First of all right in that sentence makes her claim null. Sony did nothing of the sort, outside hackers where to blame. You cannot blame Sony for the unknown factor.

But here's the kicker, its not a lawsuit for any damages that have been done, or a reasonable amount of cash to cover the costs of credit monitoring services and fraud insurance coverage for two years like the plaintiff asked. Its 1 Billion Dollars. Yes you heard me correctly, 1 billion dollars for a 21yo that's most likely because she has a PSN account, is not even worth 1million dollars in a kidnapping tradeoff.

These are the type of people and her lawyers that plague this world and need to be slaughtered on site. They are slowing down the progression of the human race in general. This is a frivolous lawsuit and I hope she get slammed for it. Such Ignorance is unforgivable. Sourcelink

The 6th:
The CEO of Sony Howard Stringer basically form lettered us. Writing what was already said on the blog. *Restoring service, blah, PS+ for 30 days, blah, and blah* but still not given date for when they might have it up. Although he did confirm that they are working with the FBI. So now I feel sorry for the person/people that did hack the network. FBI is nothing to joke about. Eitherway read it all here. Sourcelink

The 7th:
Posted yesterday night. Sony has begone restoring PSN services. They are starting with closed testing with a few outside securityfirms testing that its solid once again. I know some morons well say *Well it should have been solid in the first place* WRONG! It was solid in the first place but in this ever progressing world of ours people get smarter and fine new ways of causing such issues. It could have easyly happened to Nintendo or Microsoft. Just a example I pretty sure 1000x more accounts have been stolen via Windows security holes then Sony may have lost in this one attack.

Either way long story short hopefully basic PSN services should be coming up by the start of next week, and fully restored by end of next week. These are just my predictions I hope I'm right but I could very easyly be wrong. Sourcelink

The 10th of May:
Sony has posted yet another useless news post roughly saying nothing like normal. I wont bitch as much this time being that they got the date right this time. So basically we still have a couple more days of waiting. Sourcelink
